Course Description:
This three-day course focuses on typical and atypical development of babies aged 0-24 months. It will cover typical and atypical sensory-motor development and assessment and treatment of babies showing atypical development using the Bobath Concept. Some babies may have a diagnosis of cerebral palsy or have conditions that also affect their sensory-motor development. Treatment will consist of therapeutic handling of babies by course participants.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the three-day course you will:

Understand typical and atypical sensory-motor development through movement analysis.

Recognise sensory-motor impairments in babies and its impact on motor, social and cognitive behaviour.

Identify key impairments in babies and prioritise them.

Write functional goals for baby treatment.

Develop a treatment plan based on the functional goal.

Use therapeutic handling to facilitate activity and provide a better sensory-motor experience.
Course Activities:
Teaching methods include PowerPoint presentations, video analysis, treatment demonstrations and facilitate sessions.

IMPORTANT: We recommend bringing baby dolls (20-24") to practise therapeutic handling. There will be opportunities for handling babies under supervision.
